During their Spring Break, a group of 12 high school students from Agathos Classical School in Columbia, TN came to Gainesville, GA to grow in their relationship with the Lord, serve the community, and bring Kingdom.  They partnered with Habitat for Humanity, Rahab’s Rope, Good News at Noon, Set Free Ministries, and Bridge the City.  These partnerships allowed them to spend their days cleaning and serving in homeless shelters, working in meal ministry, packing sanitation bags, building gardens, and so much more!  They also spent their evenings going door to door to pray for people and share the love of Jesus.  They made a difference in Gainesville and are going home to make a difference in Columbia as well.

Here are some of their take-a-ways from the week:

“In a word, this mission trip has been life changing.  I’ve learned to trust that God has made a way to accomplish that which I fear.  I have learned about serving, specifically that, in order to serve, I must serve to the utmost of my abilities.  Missions is what my heart loves, and I now know it is what I want to do with my life, at least part of my life if not all of it.  My intimacy with the Lord has grown deeper and stronger.  Missions simply fill a need that all Christians have; to fulfill the great commission.  In that regard, telling people about Christ is not enough, but rather we must make disciples of the nations.  Serving “the least of these” can be easier than serving my peers because their needs are apparent, while in the latter, I must see how to serve them, see God in them, and see what their needs are.  For everything I have learned I shall be eternally grateful, but even more so, my heart is full knowing that God has met people where they are, provided help, and poured his love out in the mission.  Every connection I’ve made, all the people I have served and have served alongside shall always be in my heart.  I came here expecting good, but the Lord has revealed the great.”

“The week I have spent serving in Gainesville was absolutely amazing! I have gotten to meet so many new people, and serve the Lord while doing so.  Through this trip God has taught me so much about His Kingdom and what it means to serve Him.  I am so grateful for all the people that God has used to impact my life through this trip.”

“This was the very first time I did evangelism and, though I was nervous the first day, it was an amazing experience.  I am no longer afraid, but actually excited to go knock on doors and share the gospel.  I have had an amazing experience doing everything that was planned and would most definitely do it again!”
